Become an Apprentice with us

Becoming a nursery apprentice is a great way to start a career in early years education while gaining hands-on experience and earning qualifications.

Apprenticeships usually involve working at a nursery or early years setting while studying for a relevant childcare qualification, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years Educator diploma.

Entry Requirements

  • Age: Apprenticeships are typically available to individuals aged 16 or older.
  • Qualifications: You usually need at least GCSEs in English and Maths (grades 9-4 or A*-C). Some programs may accept you without these qualifications, but you might need to complete them as part of the apprenticeship.
  • Passion for Childcare: You don’t need prior experience, but a genuine interest in working with children and a willingness to learn are essential.

Apply for an Apprenticeship

  • If you wish to apply for becoming an apprentice with us please –
    • Submit an application, HERE attaching your CV and covering letter explaining your interest in early years education.
    • If selected you would be invited to attend an interview, where you’ll likely be asked about your passion for working with children, your ability to work in a team, and your enthusiasm for learning.
    • Offered a work trial – to observe your interactions with the children and how well you work within the early year’s environment.
    • DBS checks
    • Reference Checks
    • Knowledge Test – based on safeguarding, child protection, EYFS Curriculum and Welfare requirements.

Training and Study

  • As a nursery apprentice, you’ll spend most of your time working in a nursery or early years setting, supporting staff in caring for and educating children.
  • You’ll also be required to study toward a formal qualification, such as:
    • Level 2 Early Years Practitioner (for entry-level apprenticeships).
    • Level 3 Early Years Educator (a more advanced qualification allowing you to take on more responsibilities).

Complete Your Apprenticeship

  • Apprenticeships typically last between 12 to 24 months, depending on the qualification level.
  • At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll complete an end-point assessment, which might include:
    • Observations of your practical work with children.
    • A portfolio of evidence showing your skills and knowledge.
    • Written or practical exams to demonstrate your understanding of childcare practices.
